![]() The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you” Romans 16:20, ESV. “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” Romans 15:13, ESV. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers” Acts 9:31, CSB. “So the church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was strengthened. “May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!” Psalm 29:11, ESV. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!’ As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger and said to him, ‘Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me’” Daniel 10:18-19, NLT. ‘Don ’ t be afraid,’ he said, ‘for you are very precious to God. “ Then the one who looked like a man touched me again, and I felt my strength returning. Let’s look at some verses that we can hold on to when the storms of life try to overtake us. God will either calm the storm or fill us with His peace and presence in the midst of the storm. The disciples marveled at the power Jesus had that even the wind and waves obeyed Him. "Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?" Jesus woke up, rebuked the wind, and spoke to the sea, "Peace! Be still!" Immediately the wind stopped blowing and a great calm came upon the sea. A powerful storm comes upon them and they wake Jesus up. After a long day of ministering to the people, Jesus gets in a boat with His disciples and immediately falls fast asleep. We see an example of this in Mark 4:35-41 where Jesus literally calms a storm. ![]() God also grants us peace in the midst of storms by calming the storm. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were promoted and I can only imagine the people who came to know God because of them. Because of the faithfulness of these men, a nation saw the power of God. Instead, He entered the storm and walked alongside them in the midst of it, literally. The Lord didn’t take away the fiery storm that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them” ( Daniel 3:27). They “saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. Nebuchadnezzar commanded Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to come out of the flames. One of the men looked like “a son of the gods.” When the king looked in, he saw not three men bound and burning, but four men, unbound and walking in the midst of the fire. ![]() The fire was so hot it killed the men who threw them in, yet a miracle was in the works. He was so mad he instructed the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual, then had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego thrown into the flames. They knew that either way, God would be with them and this knowledge filled them with the peace that made no sense given their current situation. They knew God could save them but were willing to face a horrible death if He didn’t. The only way Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego could have given such an answer is if the peace of God was filling their hearts. Anyone who did not do this would immediately be cast into a fiery furnace to be burned alive. A herald proclaimed in a loud voice that when the music played they were commanded to fall down and worship the image of gold. Everyone gathered in a large open plain before the image of gold. He set it up in the province of Babylon and invited the leaders and officials of the kingdom to come to a dedication of the golden image. King Nebuchadnezzar made a huge golden image. One of the best examples I can think of is the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. God grants us peace in the midst of storms by being present with us in the storm. What Are Some Ways God Grants Us Peace in the Midst of Storms? He will be with us in the storm and He will give us peace in spite of the storm. Sometimes He allows us to go through something difficult, but He never makes us go through it alone. He’ll fix everything and we’ll praise Him for the miracle He worked. Sometimes God will calm our storm and remove it from us. The second thing we need to know about Godly peace is that it’s found in the midst of the storms of life. We don’t have to play games to try to earn it, we simply have to ask for it. It’s not something God keeps hidden and makes us work for. ![]() The first thing I think we need to know about Godly peace is that it’s available to us. Let’s look at some of them and allow the peace of God to rule in our hearts. How do we find peace in a world that feels so stormy? Bible verses for peace are plentiful. Political storms, pandemic storms, and our own personal storms of life swirl around in our minds and try to disrupt our lives. Storms of uncertainty rage all around us. Need some Bible verses about peace today? I don’t think anyone would argue with the observation that we’re living in uncertain times.
